Oh That Sphinx!

The purpose of the Great Sphinx has been debated over the years by many people.  Some say that it was built as a memorial to a Pharaoh while others believe that its purpose was to guard the Great Pyramids.  Other scholars believe that it was an astronomical observation device that marked the position of the sun as it was rising on the day of the spring equinox in the time of Leo the Lion (not to be confused with Tony the Tiger!). They think this because the body of the Great Sphinx is in the form of a lion
